questions & answers
- What
is the maximum flow temperature that can be reached by a Heat Pump
for the heating system or the domestic hot water generation ?
In both cases OCHSNER Heat Pumps reach 65°C. For energy savings
reasons a maximum temperature of 50 °C is recommended. Floor / wall heating is recommended to keep flow temperatures, energy consumption and costs low.
- How
much hot sanitary water is needed for one person in an average
household?
The average
consumption amounts to up to 50 litres warm water per person per
day. Special requirements like whirlpool etc not included.
.
- Which
heat distribution system can I operate with a Heat Pump ?
In new buildings
low temperature radiant heating (wall heating, under-floor heating)
for comfort and economical reasons are mostly used. Heat Pumps are
ideally suitable for low-temperature heating. Including low-temperature
radiators.
-
What HP models are appropriate for retrofit in old buildings?
For
old buildings OCHSNER offers a large variety of Heat Pump models available for
radiator heatings up to 65° flow temperature. These Heat Pumps are available with all heat sources (water, ground, air).
- Do
Heat Pumps operate quiet?
Yes, in particular,
the Golf Heat Pump runs quietier than an oil burner. Only with exhaust
air Heat Pumps should pipe-sound absorbers be built into the air
ducts in order to avoid internal noise-transfer.
- What
maintenance work is necessary with a Heat Pump?
Heat pumps
work maintenance-free.
- Are
Heat Pumps reliable?
Heat Pump
technology has been used for decades and is well-known . Ochsner
alone has experience with over 70.000 units manufactured. Experience
counts.
- Isn't
it more advisable to install solar panels for water heating
?
No. Solar
panels for water heating are more expensive to buy and install than
a domestic hot water Heat Pump. Solar panels usually need at least
the same amount if not more electric energy (to heat the water in
the winter and during cloudy days as well as the energy for the
circulation pump) than domestic hot water Heat Pumps.
- Can
I still grow plants as usual with a ground collector in the garden
?
Yes, the flat
as well as the trench collector permits unrestricted planting in
the garden at any location including above the collector tubes-
with flowers and bushes and trees.
- Is
the grass and plants disturbed by low soil temperatures where the
ground collector is located?
No, near the
surface the temperature of the ground is affected practically exclusively
by sun and weather.
- What
area do I need for the ground collector?
There are
sometimes contradictionary recommendations? The dimensioning of
the collector must consider the heat requirement of the house as
well as the ground conditions. If the calculation is made professionally
according to the OCHSNER guidelines, economical and reliable operation
is assured for years.
- Is
it also possible to retrofit Heat Pumps into existing heating systems
which are or have to be rebuilt?
Yes, in most
cases it is possible to replace an old furnace by a Heat Pump. The
existing heating system must first be evaluated by a real expert
and may be rebuilt in some respects. OCHSNER System Partners have
the expertise and will offer you the best suitable Heat Pump model.
- I
have a hot water tank, can I retrofit it with a Heat Pump?
Yes, the type
Europa Mini hot water Heat Pump is suitable for retrofit with an
existing tank.
- What
problems could one expect retrofitting an air to water heating Heat
Pump?
The Golf GMLW
model is designed as a Split unit. This means no noise disturbance
due to the low speed fans located outside. The connection between
the internal Heat Pump and the outer evaporator is made by two thin
pipes which are simply led through a borehole through the wall.
- What
heating costs can I expect with a Heat Pump?
With Heat
Pumps you will achieve substantially lower heating costs compared
to oil or gas or pellets or district heating. Savings of usually
50 to 75 % can be expected. You can calculate your individual savings
on the OCHSNER homepage on-line.
- Who
will install an OCHSNER Heat Pump ?
The trained
and experienced OCHSNER Sales Partners adress nearest to you can
be found on our homepage. We would also be pleased to communicate
them to you on your request.
- Can
I also cool with a Heat Pump?
Yes, with
the OCHSNER Golf Heating and Cooling models you have both options.
The controller will automatically change from heating to cooling
mode depending on the outside air temperature. You can also use
the existing wall heating for this.
